2008 Calendar of Events
Meeting times are at 1:30 p.m. at Berkeley Electric Cooperative on Maybank Highway Johns Island unless otherwise noted.
April 19 Twelth Annual Box Hill Picnic Instead of our traditional Box Hill picnic, this year we held a light tea for the general public, in conjunction with Indigo Books, at Fresh Fields, a shopping center on Johns Island. Our intention was to introduce Jane to others. We gathered at the courtyard of Fresh Fields and had iced tea and snacks for our guests. Several guests in costume roamed the area handing out invitations. Indigo Books had Jane books and other items for sale. The weather was beautiful and warm and everyone enjoyed themselves. Plus, we had two new members join.

2008 Jane Austen Birthday Tea
Our annual Jane Austen Birthday Tea was held on January 26th in Charleston. Our Tea is open to the public and we had about 90 people in attendance.
Food was prepared by members and enjoyed by all. It may be time for a new cookbook to capture the recipes for all those delicious treats we had!
Carriage rides are a big tourist draw in Charleston, and one carriage got a big surprise when the doors to Gage Hall opened and members in Regency finery came strolling out!
Our Regency Players, directed by Nita Hite, presented The Courtship of Mrs. Elton, a play by Diana Birchall.
